David Royle recently retired after a career in international educational publishing and consultancy. He worked on a number of donor-funded education projects in Asia, the Balkans and former CIS countries. He has substantial experience as a primary and secondary school governor in both Sawbridgeworth and Bishop’s Stortford and is currently a primary school governor in Bishop’s Stortford. He has strong connections with local schools though the Bishop’s Stortford Rotary Club’s Youth Opportunities and Interact activities. As a Sawbridgeworth town councillor he also has an interest in the effective provision of additional high-quality education in the district and in parental choice as development projects evolve.
He particularly supports the vision and ethos of BSET and its determination to support the new schools collaboratively as they develop, drawing on the strengths and expertise within the Trust, while also giving the new senior leadership teams and governing bodies the autonomy to create their own identities.
